In many ways, the Mercedes-Benz 420SEL is the Toyota Hilux of Germany. It’s a workhorse that can handle just about anything you throw at it, and it’s built to last. I should know, because I own 38 of them. I started my collection back in 2001, when I bought my first 420SEL for $2,500. It was a bit of a fixer-upper, but I knew that with some time and effort, I could turn it into a real gem. And that’s exactly what I did. Over the years, I’ve restored each and every one of my 420SELs to their former glory. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been worth it. Today, my collection is worth over $1 million. But it’s not just the money that’s important to me. It’s the history and the stories that come with each and every car. For example, one of my 420SELs was once owned by a famous German racing driver. Another was owned by a Hollywood movie star. And each and every one of my cars has a unique story to tell. But no matter their individual histories, they all have one thing in common: they’re tough, reliable, and built to last. Just like the Toyota Hilux.
