Glass racks are the handyman’s best friend, a dog that’ll never leave your side. Yes, you and me both know MyGlassTruck. They spend thousands on cornering the market and driving up prices for aluminum tubes, but are they really the standard they claim to be?

Something about MyGlassTruck is how every single kit they sell is specifically fitted for each truck. The issue this causes is it makes the vehicle choice to use their kits limited. You can only buy and use a truck or van that fits with a Glass Truck glass rack. Frankly, that’s just not fair. There should be an option to mount glass on your granddad’s 2001 Chevy S10, not just a fancy Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. Smells like pricing individual glass-men out of the market to me.

CRL

Now, CRL is an interesting case. They’re pretty much the antithesis to MyGlassTruck, offering only generic glass racks that fit anything and everything a handyman might have sitting in the backyard. From box trucks to pickups, CRL has any size and shape of work vehicle in the catalogue. There is just one problem: buying them. As of right now, all of their racks seem to be out of stock or discontinued, yet some are still up for sale on other sites. We would guess the price of entry is much less than their competitor, but since there’s little to no information on them there’s no way to know.

Now something I’m sure you guys all know is the limited amount of racks for more unconventional vehicles, like monster trucks and BMW M3’s. Uncle Bob may not be the best, fastest, most accurate, most stable human being out of the bunch, but he swears he can booger-weld a glass rack for any automobile to have roamed this earth. He’s got a pile of scrap aluminum out back he took from that old construction site down the road, so just give him some dimensions and he’s sure to get it 70% correct.
