Famed Italian race car manufacturer Picchio Racing Cars has announced they intend on constructing an LMDH car in time for the 2024 WEC season. There will be a single season factory campaign, before switching to a factory supported customer-only program.
Our sources say they initially intended to create a hybrid LMH car for IMSA, utilizing the novel battery swapping technology they have designed in solidworks 2017. However due to no one on the IMSA governing body (or MSIMA for that matter) speaking Italian, homologation information was unable to be shared

IMSA organizers also noted that although Picchio claims to be working on the “Evolution GT Ecological SuperSports Car”, information is both scarce and in Italian. They where considering to look the other way, because “it’s Picchio man, I remember those guys from the DP days! Wait… the DP days…”, and then decided against allowing the entree.
Mere days after this decision was swiftly brushed under the rug, Picchio announced that they will be entering the WEC, using an LMDH car, partnering with Dallara. This move comes as a surprise from their prior plan, however we can only speculate that the switch was financially motivated (presumably to pay for a new translator).

You go Picchio!
