Nissan has been on a kick recently restoring historic and important Nissan cars through their “”NISMO restored car” program. After completing a beautiful BNR32 last year, performing a full chassis-down restoration, they’ve focused their energy on another historic Nissan…
The Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet was made in 2011 and a mere 6,000 were ever produced. This makes them a rarity, which makes it clear why NISMO wants to refresh the provided example. The restoration program starting costs begin at 300,000 USD, or 40,000,000 Yen. A small price to pay for gods chariot given a new life.
It is unsure where this soon-to-be pristine example will end up, but some have said Nissan may use it in their Japan museum, or a wealthy Russian government official’s collection. Wherever it ends up, the owner will be extremely happy. NISMO’s restoration process starts with dismantling the entire vehicle down to the bare chassis. Everything gets dipped in sealant repainted (this in the launch color, sea-foam green), and then the engine gets torn down. For the Murano, the glorious 250 HP V6 heart will be taken apart and replaced with all new parts. After the engine is rebuilt, the sticky leather inside is replaced with slightly less sticky leather and the final build goes through a rigorous testing session in the Tokyo city center.
Personally, us at MSIMA are extremely excited to see how this NMCC comes out, and we’re all quite jealous of the lucky individual who gets to own it!
