BREAKING NEWS:
For the 2024 IMSA season, Petit Le Mans will be renamed to “Grande Le Mans” after a wholesale renovation of Road Atlanta.

Outrage from upper management once they learned that “petit” was French for “tiny” lead to sweeping changes to the event. From an increased grid size to a complete renovation and redesign of the famed circuit of Road Atlanta, IMSA is taking the matter very seriously.

IMSA released a statement in the morning to explain the situation: “When we first made the event, the ACO told us that the word “Petit” was French slang for “pretty cool”. However, it seems they lied to us. We will no longer have the smaller Le Mans! The French will be taught a lesson the American way!”

Aside from upping the grid size by allowing LMP3 and gt4 to compete in the main event, IMSA has undergone a complete renovation of the track.

We talked to our friends at IMSA, who told us the following about the new renovations:

“T15 to T3 remain the same, T4 to 5 (the esses) exponentially increases until our sick desires for control have been satisfied, from the exit of T5 to T9 the track is scaled by a factor of 10, T10A/B remain the same to add a challenge, the hill at T11 is raised by 100 ft. We’ve also added “The Bill France Oval” to the course to broaden the race’s appeal”.

All corners on the track have also been renamed to better reflect America’s racing history, as another way to distance itself from the French race.

We reached out to a friends working at Ford Performance to get their opinions on the new additions to Road Atlanta. However, upon hearing the news, we just heard a sigh, a gunshot, and a thunk. Can’t wait for the 2024 Grande LeMans!
