Porsche recently revealed a one-off road legal version of their 963 LMH car that competes at the highest level in IMSA and WEC. Dubbed the “963 RSP” after Lord Roger Penske himself, the reveal of this barely altered Le Mans prototype for the road sent shockwaves through the automotive community. Nearly everyone can’t stop raving about just how insane the undertaking is, and just how impressive it is for this car to be as unaltered as it is, save for some minor exterior tweaks and a leather trimmed interior.

Nearly everyone that is.

We reached out to one Tom Brougham of New Hampshire, who is vehemently opposed to this car’s very existence and has begun an online campaign to voice his displeasure towards Porsche.

“It’s all wrong. So sad”, he tells us, “side by side, a 911 GT1 Straßenversion is a better, more timeless car in every way”. He continue “the 963 RSP is a stupid, heritage-less name applied to a car that will age poorly. Also, unlike the GT1, this an in abomination can only hold 1 person”.

We asked him why he was comparing the car against the 911 GT1 when Porsche was using the 917 in promotional material, to which he responded, “Everyone knows of the 917. But if I must speak of such pedestrian matters then I shall leave you with this. Seeing both cars side by side doesn’t do any justice to the new one”.

He then proceeded to rant about the pointlessness of having a cup holder, bitched that it was ugly, and remarked that they should “bugger off with your sippy cup. If you get thirsty or hot you haven’t got to where you’re going fast enough.”

We asked if the fact that this is essentially a road legal Le Mans prototype is at least admirable, to which he said “they claim it’s a race car in every way, and yet it has air conditioning and a cup holder”. We proceeded to remind him that race cars do have places to hold drinks and some – like the Valkyrie LMH – also include air conditioning. His response was to angrily shout about how “racing isn’t what it used to be”.

After an hour of him essentially repeating the same rhetoric, we were hurriedly kicked out of his room because he had an iRacing race to join.
