Ahead of the Daytona 500, Honda Racing Corporation, or HRC for short, has announced plans enter the current Accord and Civic into NASCAR.
“During the rebranding from HPD to HRC, we uncovered old plans scribbled by an Indy car intern for a NASCAR body using the Honda accord”, said our contact at HRC. “And one really drunk night after a Sauber homologation run, someone accidentally ran CFD on it, and the numbers came back quite nice”.
After that fortunate accident, the parts were put into motion for the two cars you see before you.
The 2024 Honda Accord HRC NASCAR NextGen Cup car and 2024 Honda Civic Sport Sedan HRC Xfinity Car are going to join the field in Phoenix this year in March. The Cup car will use a modified version of Honda’s old Indy car v8, meanwhile the Xfinity car will get their new BF350 marine engine, modified for competition use.

Honda is working with Chip Ganassi Racing and Racers Edge Motorsports to field both Cup and Xfinity series cars, with a general sense of confusion coming from all those involved.
We are also promised a Honda Ridgeline Truck Series racer, once HRC is able to convince the higher ups that it is indeed, a truck.
We at MSIMA can’t wait to see Honda’s attempt at NASCAR, I’m sure the countless hours poured into aero r&d at Halo will certainly shine through at Aerodyn.
