The Mercedes AMG GT R had a special part inside the cabin. Because of the true “track ready” style the GT R portrayed, Mercedes had the idea to give easy access to the traction control options placed directly on the center console. Now, a few years later, this feature is coming to all other Mercedes models as a dealer-installed option. The installation involves drilling a moderately-sized hole directly into the brand new car’s dash, gluing in a black plastic button and hooking up the dial by daisy chaining off the head unit.
According to Mercedes-Benz engineers, this gives consumers an easier option to cras- enjoy their 3-pointed star powerhouse doing burnouts up and down the residential streets.
“We typically don’t allow the drivers to make their own decisions, but the Kaiser has allowed some freedom for those wanting it. Now, the every-day American can spin the wheels in their GLA!”
The previous way to get rid of traction in the modern Mercedes is a button the driver needs to hold down for 10 whole seconds. Not only that, but it only offered 2 levels of traction. 50% off and 100% off. If you wanted, let’s say, 44 percent traction control, you’d be shit out of luck. Not anymore! The new dial allows 9 different selections for all your traction (or anti-traction) needs. It’ll make you feel like Lewis Hamilton going to the supermarket in your C-Class, dialing in the perfect amount of TC for the road and weather conditions.
We happily welcome this neat and totally-not-gimicky addition to the Mercedes-Benz options list! Personally, I’m getting it on my new EQS!
