Daniel White, 28, of 3886 Morse Rd, Columbus, OH, 43230, has recently sold his 2013 Scion FRS for a new 2025 Toyota GR86. We at MSIMA where there to cover the story:
“I originally through that this car would be pretty similar to my old FRS”, Danny boy told us, “I mean, it looks pretty similar, the weight is close enough, heck, even the darn chassis is almost a carryover”.
However, to his surprise, the new FA24 packed a bit more of a punch than he was expecting.
“Ooh yeah the new motor, it’s a scary thing honestly. It’s made this car FAST man! It’s that 0.4L that makes all the difference, I feel like I’m on the edge of control”.
We were told that Daniel has been cautious with the car’s outrageous 228 hp and 184 ft-lb output, up from the old FRS’s 200 hp and 151 ft-lb of torque. He’s only reved the car past 6000 rpm thrice, each time needing to convince himself that the car would in fact drive straight and not take off like the world’s most disappointing aircraft.
“I’ve been thinking about selling the car and getting something a bit tamer, like an ND1 Miata or last model year GT86. This gr86 is too easy to get into trouble with, and I just don’t know if I can cope with all that power. And the torque just hits so much earlier! The car feels so unbalanced now.”
We at MSIMA wish that Daniel would shut his mouth and just drive the damn car, however, having known several BRZ/FRS/86 owners, this will not be the case.
