Ahh, the Toyota Corolla. The car with the most units sold in the world, this is one of the most common econo-boxes on the road. With that, there comes a wide variety of Corollas produced. In this detailed list, we will take a look at 10 of the best examples out of the millions of production vehicles made.
10. Mr2 Spider

What happens when you take a Corolla and put the front in the rear? An MR-2 Spider! Instead of understeering off a cliff like most of the other entries in this list, get ready for snap oversteer to take you over the edge. At least that way, you don’t get to see your impending doom. At least this corolla didnt snap as much as the generation before it, and has the added bonus of at least some crash structure.
9. 2015 Toyota Corolla S

Ah, the first car this writer has ever driven. A decent CVT econobox that gets you from point A to point B, but with the S badge comes plastic paddle shifters! That way, you can pretend you’re a racecar driver as you click through the “gears” as you floor it and use all 132 horsepower to try and merge onto an I-75 onramp.
8. 2001 Toyota Corolla LE

The classic Corolla round blob that you might still see on the road. This thing came with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed slushbox automatic. The author’s experience in this vehicle consists of being driven to and from elementary school with early 2000’s white girl pop playing on the radio, so take that as you may.
7. Scion tC

Yeah I don’t really know much about this car but it’s a 2-door so there’s that… This corolla is the slightly more sporty corolla, so the suspension on these does something other than be squishy. And as an added bonus you get the 2.4 or 2.5 liter camry motor, pumping out a scorching 171 hp instead of the usual corolla 132 hp.
6. Honda Civic

The main competitor to the Toyota Corolla, often seen with a fart can revving at 4am… almost as annoying as those darned subies waking me up at midnight… anyway old man jokes asides, this car is a bit more popular when it comes to the modified car scene compared to the Corolla. But, eh close enough, welcome back Toyota Corolla. The main corolla competitor that sadly must be admitted, from the enthusiant standpoint, is the better corolla.
5. Toyota gold package Equip Corolla

Toyota Corolla… but GOLD!!!
4. 2022 Toyota Corolla SE

Being the current daily driver of the author, this is a car I am rather familiar with. This is pretty much your normal modern econobox, but with a few “sporty” features, like plastic paddle shifters, a front bumper facelift compared to the base model, and alloy rims. In addition, instead of your normal CVT, this thing comes with a physical “launch gear” for start-stopping, which then transitions to a CVT for everyday use. This makes for a very interesting experience when trying to floor it during corner exit, as the transmission has an aneurysm trying to decide whether it wants to be in first or in the CVT. The brakes are good enough, until they aren’t… especially when going through the horseshoe on the Daytona road course. At least the tires are good with the grippitron 9000s, or something…
3. GR Corolla

It has three cylinders, therefore it is number 3. I’m a rally car bro, trust me.
2. Corolla gt-s (ae85?)

INISHARU DEEEE!!!! or something idk is the only reason people pay 25 grand for a rust bucket from the 80s. Of course everyone knows of the AE86 from a certain street racing anime, and as such the price for one of these RWD shitboxes is hit with the “tofu tax,” with many people importing models straight from Japan for prices exceeding that of a brand new Corolla. These exorbitant prices extend to the U.S. market, which got the AE85. Sold in the U.S. as the Corolla GT-S, this car had a smaller engine compared to its Japanese counterpart, though this has done nothing to reduce the price of these cars. That being said, this car is supposedly a good driver’s car, being well balanced and giving good feedback to the driver. But for that price? Maybe not…
Honorable Mention: 2025 Corvette ZR1

1. Toyota Corolla Cross

This is probably going to be the best selling Corolla in the coming future, and therefore is number 1. This is an abomination of a vehicle, which takes the same platform and powertrain as the modern Corolla and turns it into a crossover. This microwave on wheels takes the same engine as the Toyota Corolla SE mentioned above and adds almost 300 lbs to it, as well as a body with a higher CG surrounded by ugly matte plastic trim. As a hater of crossovers and a fan of the glorious Corolla, this is the most injurious spit-in-the-face vehicle that Toyota could ever have produced. The worst part is that it probably will outsell the original Corolla in the coming years, thanks to the current driver market trends.
Oh wait, sorry, big crossover has my family at gunpoint, so ignore everything I said before, what I actually meant to say was GLORY TO THE COROLLA CROSS!!!!! The Toyota Corolla Cross is PERFECTION MADE METAL—an engineering marvel so divine, so utterly FLAWLESS, that to question its supremacy is sheer blasphemy. THE COROLLA CROSS SHALL REIGN SUPREME, AND WE ARE BUT HUMBLE SERVANTS TO ITS GREATNESS!!!
