In their latest bid to secure further market share on the British Isles and mainland Europe, Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd (BAIC) has begun the relaunch of several historic brands. Much like SAIC with MG, BAIC quietly purchased the rights to Rover from Tata Motors in August of last year with hopes of returning the storied marque to market by 2027.

They plan to launch with two models, a Rover 75 SUV and a retro styled Rover SD1 sedan. Both cars will based off a shared EV platform with other BAIC models, so expect parts sharing with the Arcfox Alfa T7 and Stelato S9. Pricing for these upcoming models has yet to be released, but we can assume it won’t matter to us in the U.S. market anyways.

In an interview with Skynews, BAIC President Chen Geng said about the new models, “我敢打赌，你肯定懒得翻译这段话。既然捷豹（Jaguar）正忙着搞他们那一套，现在正是我们介入的时候……我年轻那会儿，我们在树林里发现了一具尸体。它对我说话，指使我这么做。”. And I totally agree!

We at MSIMA are impatiently waiting for the reveal of of the new Rover 75. We desperately wish that BAIC would just bless us with its presence already, as this painful wait is getting too much to bear.
