US Power Grid to Adopt Tesla NACS Port

The newest adopter for the Tesla designed NACS charging port was announced this week, as the US Government plans to switch from the Type-B Electrical Socket.

The department of energy (DOE) had its engineers look into the possibility of using the NACS standard designed by Tesla to charge their EV’s for the past decade, as recently as 2019. It wasn’t until the recent announcement of major automakers adopting this as standard did the DOE feel it right to announce their plans.

“For years we’ve been made fun of by the rest of the world for not adopting a ‘sensible and reasonable standard’. Well look how the tables have turned”, a DoE representative told us.

With more and more automakers turning to the Tesla NACS port, the U.S. government sought to get ahead of global competition while also supporting local industry by opting to adopt this port system for all domestic power outlets.

“We’ve chosen the NACS port because, quite simply, it’s the best. And we’re the best. So the best gotta work together”, he stated.

We’ll update you on how exactly the DOE plans to implement this new switch, as well as Electrify America’s recent desire to lobby Canada and Mexico to adopt their charging port instead, as more information gets out.
