IMSA asks manufactures to please change the shirts they give to people each year

In a move to attract more fans to track side displays, IMSA asks manufacturers to change the shirts they give out during races.

“The manufacturers who set up displays at our races, namely Ford, Chevy, Cadillac, BMW, Honda/Acura, Lexus, Lamborghini, Toyota, and Hyundai, have all been reporting a decrease in viewership numbers”, says IMSA head of marketing Dave Petity.

IMSA sent out surveys to question RaceFans ®️ about why they visit Manufacturer stands. And while some say they visit to check out new sports and luxury cars, most, unsurprisingly, are just here for the free merch.

Most attendees also mentioned that they haven’t gone to these display stands recently due to the same shirts being given out at every race (including Indy and NASCAR events… Chevy) for the past 5 years.

After seeing this data, IMSA has held a meeting with the Manufacturers.

“We have asked the OEM’s to consider changing out their merchandise to attract new interest in their stands”, says Dave Petity, “hell it isn’t that hard, we make new shirts, hats, posters, hell even commemorative chairs for every race. They don’t even have to be track specific, just change the colors a bit! (Chevy)”.

BMW and Lamborghini declined to attend the meeting, publicly stating that “if the plebeians what to have our merch, don’t be destitute and buy it”.

“It’s very simple”, says Dave, “Give the masses what they want, and they will come. And also triple the number of medium shirts you idiots make, Jesus Heckin Christ”.
