The VW Jetta GLI is a gem of the Volkswagen lineup. A peppy drivetrain, solid chassis feel and plenty of room for a great daily driver. However, the offices of MSIMA have erupted with a new take on this classic vehicle.
The hot hatch idea has been in the cultural zeitgeist for decades now, and honestly we’re all surprised VW never hopped on the hype train. After taking a closer look at the Jetta GLI, we’ve realized something interesting. What if VW turned the Jetta into a shortened hatchback, effectively turning it into a hot hatch? We had our world-class criminal sketch artists whip up some concept designs, and frankly we’re all crossing our fingers Volkswagen takes some inspiration:

The Jetta is a wonderful platform to build a hot hatch from, and we’ve even come up with a naming convention! The VW GTI, the T standing for “tiny”. It would retain the same powertrain and transmission options, except the chassis would be shortened and the rear roof turned into a tall hatch. Is this the next new hot hatch on the scene? Us at Mis-Shift really think so, and we hope you agree!
