After facing criticism from the unwashed masses who believe their opinions matter in the design world, Mercedes Benz has decided to take action. Their design team finally revealed to the public the potato their department had been using as a basis for their current line of EQ electric cars.
“The best work comes from nature, so we reached out to University of Stuttgart bio-engineering students to work in conjunction with our wind tunnel team”, said Mercedes chief of design, Gorden Wagener. Their goal was to design the optimal shape for the best lift to drag number, by genetically engineering the most aerodynamic potato for our wind tunnel.
“When we saw the aero-potato, we were stunned!”, Gordon said. “Never before has our styling department seen such a stunning shape. We knew we had the perfect base for our cars.”
The aerodynamicists were also pleased with the results, although they did note that the current breed of potatoes is still a simplified approximation. They hope that with time, their collaborative work will produce a potato that can capture details such as vents and wheels.
Mercedes hopes that the world’s critics will be silenced upon viewing their hard work and have a better understanding on their “guided by nature” design philosophy.
We reached out to the grad students in Stuttgart, but where told they’re only allowed out of the lab from Friday evening to Sunday Morning for a “drink and air break”.
