In a lazy effort to justify this last minute photoshop of an idea gone south, we esteemed writers at MSIMA present the general public with this article:
Oh the Ford Flex! A vehicle so prolific and impactful, so short lived in this mortal realm. We haven’t forgotten, and neither has Californian coach builder “FlexingDreams inc.”.
We had the pleasure to attend the unveiling ceremony (we were the only press there) and this is what the FlexingDreams spokesperson had to say: “We are pleased to present the next generation of mass human transport. Introducing the Ford Flexi-Flex, turning useless and abandoned Ford Flex’s into useful and comfortable public transportation!”
The overall design philosophy has stuck very closely to the original Ford Flex design language, so much to the point where Ford considered filing a lawsuit against FlexingDreams. Eventually the lawsuit was dropped because Ford deemed the project doomed from the start anyhow.
The first city to start implementing these budget-minded people movers is the forward-thinking Omaha, Nebraska. Only a single bus will initially be deployed, which is good for Omaha considering the entire population of the city can fit in just one Flexi-Flex. We interviewed Jeb, the fabricator for the chassis:
“Our boss happened to win a fleet of bendy busses at a police auction, so he immediately chopped the bendy parts of them off and gave them to me to weld sections onto three Ford Flex’s.”
To help out the community, Jeb decided to allow the local vocational school to practice on the chassis being manufactured. Jeb has asked us to mention that this does not put hours towards his community service parole total. We can’t wait to see where this takes humanity, presumably at least down the street before the transmission blows. We’re rooting for you, Flexi-Flex!
